It’s here! In less than 48 hours the Denver Broncos will take their home field facing the Pittsburgh Steelers.Things to look for:
1. Connections between Manning and the receiving corps. Pre-season is one thing, regular is another. No more vanilla offense, now it’s time to see who really has developed chemistry with the new QB.
2. How well the rush is integrated, who is gonna step up to keep last years lead rushing team on top? McGahee has shown he can be the reliable back who gets us the ground yards we need, but is there a possible game changer in the depth we have at RB?
3. Something that will be crucial for the first two to succeed: The O-line, they sure took a lot of flack from the general public. Seeing as they were the most consistant line in terms of starters last year, with another year under their belt I (as well as Manning) am confident that they will be a top 5 O-line this year.
4. DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. This defense had mix reviews from leading “experts” last year. Let me just say, when you don’t have a QB who can manage a game (Tebow was great in clutch, but let’s face it, 3 and outs were plentiful last year) it puts too much pressure on a defense to sustain a score. With Manning under center. The D will get much more rest throughout the game, in turn they will be a much stronger force.
If these things are executed like they should be, then expect a win on Sunday. With their leader of a safety out, Harrison listed as questionable, and their 1st round draft pick for defense injured, things should not be too difficult for the Orange Crush to post a W.

Along with the other 31 teams in the league the Broncos unveiled their new uniforms. With league switching from Reebok to Nike there have been a few changes in material and overall appearance. Denver has chosen to go back to orange as the main color block. Here is the official description from Nike:
The Denver Broncos have chosen to take full innovation in the Nike Elite 51 football uniform. The Broncos design aesthetic will stay true to years past while updating the color-blocking in the neckline in order to accommodate the Flywire technology to reduce weight and provide a lockdown fit over the pads. Designed and engineered from the inside out, the new uniform focuses on creating a system where the baselayer, padding, jersey and pant work in concert. A few of the new innovations include increasing sleeve articulation for better range of motion and integrating new four-way stretch fabrication to provide a streamlined shrink-wrap fit.

The uniform was modeled by none other than one of the greatest CB’s to play the game, Champ Bailey.

The Broncos continued adding to their roster via free agency with the announcement that the team agreed to terms with tight end Joel Dreessen on Friday.
The former Colorado State Ram will enter his seventh NFL season in 2012, having totaled 110 receptions for 1,364 yards and 13 touchdowns in 91 games (34 starts) for the New York Jets (2005) and Houston Texans (2007-11).
Dreessen will provide another red zone target for quarterback Peyton Manning. He is tied for eighth among NFL tight ends with 10 touchdown receptions in the past two seasons.
Dreessen has played all 16 games in each of the past four seasons and is coming off a career-high six-touchdown season in 2011. He was named the Texans’ Ed Block Courage Award Winner for the 2010 season.
A Native of Ida Grove, Iowa, Dreessen was selected in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Jets after earning two All-Mountain West Conference First Team honors for Colorado State University. He finished his college career with 123 catches for 1,295 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Rams.
He was an all-state performer at Fort Morgan (Colo.) High School, where he helped the school to the 1999 Colorado 3A State Championship.
With the addition of Dreessen, the Broncos now have four tight ends on their roster as he joins Cornelius Ingram, Virgil Green and Julius Thomas.

Broncos sign 5th year veteran cornerback Tracy Porter. Porter spent his first 4 years with the Saints who drafted him in the second round from Indiana University. Peyton Manning remembers Porter as the man who intercepted his pass and ran it back for a touchdown to take a superbowl ring away from him. Another good move by VP John Elway.
